The Business Continuity Institute and Everbridge, the world’s leading emergency mass notification software, released a joint report on the status and the impact of business continuity across industries.
The first key data that comes out of the report is that 83% of organizations today have a business continuity team. This is a simple yet very significant number, which is really positive and definitely going to grow in the near future.
According to the survey, the top 3 benefits of business continuity are faster recovery, the safety and accountability of the staff and, of course, a reduction on the costs of disruptions. Costs that are estimated to be around $350,000 on average for a severe disruption.
However, the contribution of business continuity is not limited to this area. Employing business continuity over time supports an improvement of employee morale and customer retention.
The report also focuses on the use of technology to manage crises. In fact, technology is becoming more and more important to handle incidents effectively. The most adopted technologies to respond to a crisis are automated communication and notification systems like Everbridge, business continuity management software like ClearView, and incident management platforms.
